Programme  : Diploma in Computer Science 

This Computer Science programme is essential for the advancement of a nation as Malaysia is now progressing towards the development of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC). Thus, this has resulted in a strong demand for computer science graduates who will be the experts in all aspects of computing. The Computer Science programme is a collaboration between SAL Group of Colleges, Malaysia and Universiti Putra Malaysia. 



    • To increase the efficiency and effectiveness in this modern era in all fields whether in industry, commerce, small businesses, large financial enterprises or government sector
    • To produce a large number of graduates and expertise in computer studies in order to achieve progress in the field of science and technology
    • To reduce the cost of Malaysian students abroad 


This programme is a three years course of four semesters. It is designed to cater to the needs of the younger generation to become computer experts capable of immediately taking a productive role in this era of computerization. In order to graduate, students need to satisfactorily complete a minimum of 92 credit hours.
This full time course is conducted in the morning or in the afternoon.

Students who would like to enroll for this course need to fulfill the requirements below 

Candidates must obtain first grade or second grade in their Sijil Peperiksaan Malaysia with :

  • Credit in Bahasa Melayu 
  • Credit in Mathematics 
  • Credits in any one of the following :
    • Biology, Chemistry, Physic, Add Mathematics, Principles of Accounting, Basic Economics, Commerce or *General Science Or
    • At least C4 in General Science
      Credits in any other two subjects 

Candidates must pass in their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia or other qualifications which are approved by the Senate, or pass in Bahasa Melayu, and Mathematics in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia or a pass in Certificate of Computer Science or pre-diploma which are quality controlled by Computer Science Faculty of UPM

Any other qualifications which can be considered by the Senate.

  • Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)
    Must possess 4 credits in SPM including Bahasa Malaysia

Entry requirements through SAL Certificate of Information Technology

  • Pass SAL Certificate of Information Technology. 
  • Any other certificates may be used upon approval of UKM 
  • Or Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia

Entry requirements through Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia

  • Must possess 4 credits in SPM including Bahasa Malaysia 
  • Attain at least 3 principles in any of the subjects 
  • Credit in Bahasa Malaysia SPM or a principal in Bahasa Melayu STPM

Certificate in Information Technology

This programme is fully conducted by SAL College.
This programme hopes to give some exposure to the students about Information technology before they enrol in the Diploma level. Students who have completed their SPM are encouraged to take the Certificate level first before proceeding to the Diploma level.

Duration of Diploma Level 

Full-time students need to follow a one-year course which consists of three semesters. One semester is equal to 15 weeks of lectures. It will be conducted in the morning and in the afternoon.

For part-time students, the duration of the programme will be within one year to two years depending on the modules that the students choose for one semester. Part-time courses will be conducted in the evening only. They will also need to register for certain courses only.

  • Examinations are conducted by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in order to ensure the quality of the programme
  • The curriculum and the syllabus are prepared by UKM
  • The lecturers are qualified and experienced
  • The role of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in controlling the quality of the programme

    • Quality control of this programme will be monitored by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in these following areas : 
    • The selection of students who enroll in this programme
    • The preparation of the curriculum and the syllabus 
    • The evaluation of the quality of the syllabus and the curriculum used will be monitored on a timely basis 
    • Final examination will be conducted by UKM 
    • UKM will mark the students’ final examination papers 
    • UKM will produce the transcripts

  Programme : Diploma in Secretarialship and Administration

The SAL Secretarialship & Administration Diploma program is unique. It is specially designed to prepare secretaries for the challenges that come with Vision 2020. Students will be equipped with all the necessary skills and knowledge required of an effective secretary, with strong emphasis on integrated computer systems, office automation and administrative management.


Career Opportunities 

Graduates of the Diploma Secretarialship and Administration programme are working in a variety of interesting and challenging positions throughout the country. They are employed in legal firms, bank travel agencies, education institutions, small businesses and large corporations. This includes being secretaries, personal assistant administrative assistant. The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Commercial Education was formed almost a century ago to provide a system of qualification in the commercial world. LCCI Certificates and Diplomas are widely recognized by employers, professional bodies and government agencies. The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry conducts examination and awards Certificates and Diplomas in Accounting and other subjects.

As stated above, LCCI Certificates and Diplomas are widely recognized for employment at the middle management level and combined with suitable experience, one can also expect to move higher up in the organization. In Malaysia, holders of LCCI Certificates and Diplomas can quite easily secure job in the field of Commerce and Industry.
